The qualification is intended for learners who aspire to either gain a further insight, or those who wish to use this Qualification as a sound foundation towards climbing the NQF ladder in the music field. Some of the competencies are also transportable towards achieving related qualifications.

Learners who have completed this qualification will have the necessary competencies to enter the Music Industry at the basic level on some occupational routes. They will acquire basic knowledge, skills and competence in performance, theory and music industry in general.

Who should enrol on this National Certificate: Music Industry Practice course?

Learners who have completed this qualification will have the necessary competencies to enter the Music Industry at the basic level on some occupational routes. They will acquire basic knowledge, skills and competence in performance, theory and music industry in general. This includes adult learners who want to enter the sector or develop their careers in one or more of the related sub-fields.

  • The year is divided into two segments namely; Theoretical and Workplace
  • Attend full-time classes at our campus in Port Elizabeth over a period of 9 weeks
  • And 22 weeks workplace experience
  • You will have access to a computer lab for research purposes.

What are the pre-requisites for the National Certificate: Music Industry Practice course

In order for you to enrol on this qualification you should be in possession of:

  • A National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
  • ‘Equivalent’ refers to foreign qualifications (these are qualifications that you obtained in a foreign country, and which are evaluated by SAQA to be equivalent to the university entrance qualification of South Africa).
  • A good command of English.
